Overview
The Department of Home Science, Tolani College of arts and Science Adipur, established in 1989, has seen remarkable achievements over the years. There are our professors with doctoral degrees, possessing extensive experience in research within home science labs, are available. These professors are equipped with modern equipment to facilitate their research endeavors effectively.
Additionally, there is a library containing a vast collection of over 1000 new books and magazines, providing valuable resources for academic and research pursuits in the field of home science. Department has labs facility- food science , textile and FRM and science ,The laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art modern equipment tailored for cooking, sewing, and training purposes, ensuring comprehensive practical training for students.
In the cooking lab, advanced culinary appliances and tools are available to facilitate various cooking techniques and experimentation. Similarly, the sewing lab is furnished with cutting-edge sewing machines, tools, and materials to enable students to hone their sewing skills and engage in textile-related projects.
Additionally, the training facilities are designed to accommodate interactive learning sessions, workshops, and practical demonstrations, providing students with hands-on experience and fostering skill development in home science disciplines.
Sixteen girl Students received gold medals and stood first in the university, showcasing excellence in academics. Additionally, six students pursued MSc in Nutrition at a renowned children’s university, with three of them earning gold medals and all six now serving as dieticians in prestigious hospitals. Eight students perused MSc in Textile-science. All serving as lecturer at ITI, skill development Government project. . Eight students perused LLB and two of them advocate practicing. Some of perused MSW and B.Ed. serving as teacher.
Furthermore, graduates from the department have diversified their careers, serving as nutritional assistants, mukhay sevika, designers, and even owning their boutiques and hotels. Employment percentage 40% and more after graduation and 80 % after post-graduation. This demonstrates the versatility and practical skills imparted by the department.
The curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning, including field visits, nutritional surveys, hospital rotations, and visits to special schools for impaired students, exhibitions, and industrial visits, providing students with comprehensive knowledge and practical experience.Home Science stands out as a subject that cultivates well-rounded individuals with expertise in various vocational courses, preparing them for diverse career paths.
